Growing back a finger; Creating memristors; Humph's swansong

First up is the news that growing back your finger isn't so hard after all. A man grew back his fingertip, complete with fingerprint, after his brother in regenerative medicine gave him some 'pixie dust'.

HP Labs has also been pushing frontiers with memristors, a resistor that retains information after losing power. An addition to the fundamental components of the capacitor, resistor and inductor, this fourth component was predicted to exist some thirty five years ago as a crucial part of circuits, but hasn't appeared until now.

Finally, despite his death, Humphrey Lyttleton may enter the record book as conductor of the largest ever kazoo band.
